A shooting in New Orleans East left a 17-year-old dead and a four-year-old wounded on Tuesday, July 21st. Gerald Morgan, 17, was sitting outside of his home in the 5900 block of Boeing Street around 2:30 in the afternoon, when two cars pulled up opening fire. Morgan's grandmother, Gwendolyn Morgan, witnessed the shooting from inside the house. She said her grandson pulled out a gun and shot back at the perpetrators. The bullets eventually found there way inside the home. "They tore up the house," Morgan recalls. "They got more bullet holes all the way to the kitchen. We had to run up the steps." One of the bullets struck a four-year-old boy in the arm. Both children were taken to the hospital where the 17-year-old later died. The four-year-old sustained non-life threatening injuries. |
